that can generate new understandings.1
- By creating a complex idea in the form of a wiki we can leave ourselves open to new ideas and understandings about the topic.

building complexity1
- We work towards making our garden expansive and complex.

The Garden is the web as topology. The web as space. It’s the integrative web, the iterative web, the web as an arrangement and rearrangement of things to one another.1

Every walk through the garden creates new paths, new meanings, and when we add things to the garden we add them in a way that allows many future, unpredicted relationships1
- As we explore and grow our garden new ideas and new viewpoints are created.¶

no one correct approach.1
- There is no wrong way to look at something, every view has a good input on the idea.¶
Source¶
We create the garden as a sort of experience generator1
- By going through our garden, we are able to experience all the flowers we have grown overtime.¶

the Stream presents us with a single, time ordered path with our experience (and only our experience) at the center.1
- The stream is designed for us and allows us to see things that we want to see.¶

To understand a statement you must go back to things before, you must find out what it was replying to, you must know the person who wrote it and their speech context.1
- To understand where someone is coming from in their idea, we need to walk down the same path they did to understand their way of thinking.¶

A web seen as a tool for self-expression rather than a tool for thought.1
- The current day web has become a place to express yourself, where you stand politically etc., rather than a tool to expand your ideas and share thoughts.¶

What is harder to understand is how in nearly 25 years of the web, when people have told us what they THINK about local subsidies approximately one kajillion times we can’t find one — ONE! — syllabus-ready treatment of the issue.1
- Much of today's internet is what people think of something rather than what they know of something. In many cases this is extremely harmful as someone's false thought of something is truth to another.¶

the idea of working next to people while building, of looking at their stuff out of the corner of your eye. Your work reacts and connects to theirs, not in this disposable or reactive way, but in this iterative way.1
- We have lost the concept of original thinking nowadays. In moderntimes,s people just copy each other and maybe write a little bit about what they think. But their ideas have already been influenced by other peoples.¶

You look at the pages, and you pull the good ones (Environmental Concerns and Local Subsidies) into your garden. You rewrite some of the bad ones.1
- We use our garden to better corrupted online ones which are plagued with ideas that do not fit.¶

we can imagine a world, I think, so much better than this one, if only we can get our heads out of the Stream for a bit, and build the Garden we need. So let’s talk about how to do that.1
